From the 14th through the 17th century, Europe experienced a rebirth of classical ideas in the arts, science, and politics. As a result, society took a much different direction compared to the middle ages that preceded the Renaissance. Why did these changes occur at this time? You will learn about the reasons as well as explore the many ways that humanism, secularism, and individualism manifested themselves in European society during the Renaissance.
The Scene
Welcome young curators! A new museum is to open this year, right in Washington Heights. You have the opportunity to create a multimedia exhibit focusing on your historical specialty area - the Renaissance. Your exhibit must authentically represent this period to museum visitors. Using images and a dynamic script, it must creatively draw the attention of all museum-goers while educating them on your specific topic. The exhibit will focus on Leonardo da Vinci, who in many ways embodies the spirit of the age. Your group will focus on a particular aspect of his incredible life and show how his accomplishments reflect the ideals of the Renaissance.
The Exhibits
Please include the following in your VoiceThread exhibit:
Five-ten relevant images. These must come from accredited sources online and in print
Every item in your exhibit should be catalogued. Label and cite (MLA style) the images in the order they appear in the exhibit and annotate each with a couple of sentences explaining its importance.
If asked, you should be able to present museum director Alfano with a rationale for the inclusion of every image.
